Recently, my point of view broadened by changing my vantage point. One of my favorite activities is to explore all things urban. The Windy City is no exception. Just me and my Nikon embraced a journey around Chicago. Although there are swanky buildings on Michigan, stunning views of the river, and distinctive skyscrapers, that wasn’t what caught my eye. The majestic views I captured by changing my perspective was most captivating about the city for me. “You must look within for value, but must look beyond for perspective.” Denis Waitley

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011Frequently, the family moments we remember most are not holidays or even big events. Favorite memories surface in everyday and ordinary things we do. This is a page out of LIFE: images of two sisters with their mom. A walk, a kiss, an embrace, and a lovely day become a journey toward a perfect spot. Always remember your way home!

Lifestyle Photography
Everyone filters what they see through a lens; some filter through tradition, others through memories, still others through wishes. For photographers, the lens is their unique view of the world. Photography as an art has taken countless forms, but when it comes to capturing people on film traditional photography has been posed, stiff and contrived. While those photos serve an immediate purpose–to capture how someone looks at a given moment–traditional photography fails to capture what we’re truly crave: the ability to personify someone in print.
Enter Lifestyle Photography, a radical take on portraiture. Radical because it embraces the imperfections and unique features that make each and every subject beautiful and eschews the outdated thought that only primped is pretty. Taking advantage of natural elements, raw emotion and unbiased perspective, lifestyle photography captures not only a snapshot; it captures a personality, an idiosyncrasy, a moment in time.
Real moments, the ones that seem so ordinary in the present but in hindsight are truly the most precious, are the heart of Lifestyle photography. The look between a husband and wife, the protective hand on a child’s back, the nuzzle of a neck; all moments that make our hearts flutter and pulses beat quicker but have traditionally been relegated to memory are now captured on film. These moments now transcend time and space and are, in their truest form, tangible memories.
With an unwavering belief that each subject is stunning, Lifestyle photography captures not only the features but the character of a person. With a basic understanding that sometimes we are blind to our own beauty, Lifestyle Photography grants us a filter that combines at once an artistic, authentic and spirited glimpse into what others see when they look at the real us.
