The Studio 56, Winter Style

How many times have you opened a Christmas card and been absolutely stunned at the family portrait included? We’re guessing not very often; after all, most of our families and friends include the obligatory ‘holiday’ shot that doesn’t really do justice to anyone!

It’s time for you to take a stand and declare ‘No more boring holiday photos!’. Instead, hold your holiday shoot in August, September or October. Let us capture fun, fresh, candid memories of your family bathed in natural light and glowing in a way that just doesn’t happen in front of a white background. Not only will your images make keepsake holiday cards, but can also be ordered in a variety of unique mediums and given for gifts that will be cherished year after year (Dad doesn’t really need new socks anyway!).

A View from the Bridge

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Not sure when my love affair with bridges began.  All I know is that there is something so intriguing about these unique passageways.  It seems their true purpose is to connect things that need connecting.  As famous as the Golden Gate Bridge may be, an ordinary bridge on the family farm can be just as grandiose.  Don’t you have so many questions every time you approach a bridge?

On a recent trip to Madison County in southern Iowa, it became so clear that their famous covered bridges had stories to tell.  Right in the center of the heartland, sat six original covered bridges build in the 1800′s.  At one time, there were eighteen of these beauties.  An unblemished countryside was the PERFECT backdrop.  Although they became famous by the Clint Eastwood movie Bridges of Madison County, for me, they are even more symbolic than that.

There is significance to life’s passageways.  We have bridges to understanding, bridges of support, bridges to peace, and bridges to the future.  Don’t de-value the journey.  Embrace it.  Build a bridge today!
